In Memory of Duncan – Walk, Drink & Remember
Duncan was the beating heart of Rochdale Rugby Club.
He gave his time, his energy and his kindness without ever asking for anything in return. Minis and Juniors Chairman, Club Treasurer, Colts Coach, 3rd Team Player — but more than any title, Duncan was a mentor, a sounding board, a friendly face, and a relentless smile around the club.
Above all, he was Louise’s husband and Alex’s dad.
In Duncan’s memory, we are coming together on 24 January to raise money for Blackburn ICU and to help Rochdale Rugby Club establish a fund in Duncan’s name, supporting young men and women involved in rugby — the game and the community he loved so much.
To honour Duncan in true rugby spirit, we’re setting ourselves a challenge:
• We’ll walk 500 miles in his honour (between us, not each)… then walk 500 more.
• We’ll drink 500 pints in his honour (between us, not each)… then drink 500 more.
• And along the way, we’ll raise a glass — or a dram — to Duncan throughout the evening.
Event Schedule
• 5:30pm – Meet
• 6:00pm – Walk begins
• 7:00pm – Food
• 8:00pm – The 500 Pint Challenge begins
• 9:00pm – Music & entertainment
There will be tombola, raffle and games running throughout the evening, so whether you’re walking, drinking, donating or just turning up to support, there’s plenty to get involved in.
This event is about remembering a man who always showed up for others — and doing the same in his name.
Come and be part of it.
Let’s walk, drink, laugh, remember… and raise money for causes that mattered to Duncan
And don’t forget your fancy dress folks. Prizes for the best Scottish Fancy Dress
