Well Christmas and New Year have been and gone, our club now enters a new decade.

Our mens senior team have just been beaten for the first time this season so we can now discharge that added pressure of being unbeaten which itself can be a burden. The mens other senior teams are sitting pretty in their respective leagues and are doing well.  “The Expendables” over 35’s team has completed another local fixture and a good time was had by all.  We must remember though that at the start of the previous decade that we had four senior mens team and our hopes are that this could be re-established in the 2020’s.

What our club didn’t have at the start of the last decade was of course, our Ladies/Girls teams.  Volunteers have worked very hard to get the Girls/Ladies up and running and they have now completed their first league games. Congratulations to them and their helpers, I’m sure we will see them grow stronger. The Lancashire President Gill Burns M.B.E. Herself a former women’s England International player was at our club this past weekend to reinforce the message of Ladies/Girls rugby and was pleasantly surprised at our facilities and setup.

The M&J section are continuing to thrive in a world of ever more choices of sport and electronic devices tempting them away. This effort by all their volunteers has to be commended. There are difficulties from red tape to Health & Safety not to mention more regulation to ensure the safeguarding of our younger members. A deserved WELL DONE to everyone who helps out, it is the future of our club, and vitally important to our future success.

Almost a year has passed now since our hard working club Secretary presented to all members what the costs are in running our club and what we needed to maintain our clubhouse and grounds.   Since then you may have noticed more events from outside rugby coming to the club. All these extra events bring in more revenue to help on the financial side. I’d like to remind everyone to please use our club bar and attend as often as you can and come to planned events, every little helps as a shopper once said.

A little further news. Not all our members are fit and well and able to come to the club at present.  I can provide more info if you require.  We are always respectful of our club and members, and wish everyone good health and well-being into the next decade.
