Good Afternoon and welcome to Moorgate Avenue.
It’s been a wonderful start to a very busy season.
Even though we’re only one month in, we’ve seen great growth across all of our Mini and Junior teams, particularly in the girl’s section which has seen a great groundswell of support in the Under 13 and Under 15 age categories.
Over the summer more than 20 Rochdale coaches successfully completed their ERCA (formerly Level 2) rugby coaching qualifications. In addition, our safeguarding policies and practices have had a complete overhaul and the end result has been an extremely positive, engaging and safe atmosphere for all of our children across all of the sections. Our aspiration is to be the gold standard for junior sports in the North West, and that in turn will encourage new members to join us!
This weekend sees us host our World Cup Rugby Festival for the mini sides, and aside from the atrocious weather we’re expecting, we hope it will to be an extremely fun and enjoyable event bringing out the very best of teamwork and fun for kids across both Yorkshire and Lancashire.
In addition to a packed fixture schedule, this year we are also running engaging events such as the ever popular “Night under the Lights” games for Under 11 and above teams, as well as opportunities for the Under 7s and Under 8s to play in advance of first team fixtures.
We recognise that as we are a club that chooses not to pay players, that our club’s future is built purely on the kids in the Minis and Juniors section playing and enjoying rugby at the highest levels and as a result, choosing to become our players of the future.
I hope today will be an enjoyable one for all present. Thank you for your attendance and support.
Finally, may I welcome not just our 1st XV’s opposition Southport Rugby Club, their members players and spectators but also all of the teams and supporters from various locations who are visiting Rochdale RUFC throughout this weekend.
Today’s Match Official
Also welcome to Rochdale RUFC is our Match Official for today, Mr Daniel Taylor of the Manchester and District Referee’s Society. Please be respectful to our official, without whom there would be no rugby.
Have a great day with us and enjoy today’s rugby and the rest of our rugby weekend.
Chairman (Minis & Juniors) Rochdale RUFC
